I am extremely disappointed with my experience purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned BMW from Athens BMW. I purchased the vehicle sight unseen, trusting BMW’s Certified Pre-Owned inspection process and the dealership’s representation of the vehicle. The car had only approximately 8,500 miles when I purchased it. After driving it only about 1,500 miles, I had the tires inspected and learned that the front tires measure just 3 mm of tread while the rear tires are at 5 mm. For a vehicle sold as Certified Pre-Owned with such low mileage, I did not expect to be facing the cost of replacing tires so soon. I contacted Athens BMW hoping they would stand behind the vehicle they sold, but they declined to replace the tires or offer any meaningful assistance. To make matters worse, I was also charged miscellaneous fees that were not clearly explained during the purchase process. It wasn’t until I had to reschedule the transaction and specifically asked for an explanation of the charges that I received any clarification. I believe these fees should have been fully disclosed and explained upfront, not only after I questioned them. I now have to spend at least $1,400 to replace a minimum of two tires—an expense I never anticipated so shortly after purchasing a low-mileage CPO vehicle. I chose a BMW Certified Pre-Owned vehicle because I believed it represented a higher standard of quality, transparency, and inspection. Unfortunately, this experience has left me questioning both the thoroughness of the CPO inspection and the dealership’s commitment to honest customer service. I would encourage anyone considering purchasing a vehicle sight unseen to carefully review every fee, ask detailed questions before signing, and have the vehicle independently inspected immediately upon delivery rather than relying solely on the Certified Pre-Owned designation.

I made an appointment online for a recall on my i7 as well as shorted B&W speaker in the head rest. The earliest I could get a loaner (we live an hour away) was 4 weeks not great, but it wasn't urgent so I was ok with it. One week before the appointment Beth called to say that the service members who work on Saturday's couldn't address these issues and I would need to reschedule. She then went to look for a loaner and said it would be another 4-6 weeks before one would be available. When I commented that I had made the appointment 3 weeks ago and why were they just calling now, she said well you should have called. I just looked at it today. I said well isn't the i7 supposed to get concierge service? She said you didn't buy it here (they didn't have one at the time) so no. I can assure now I never will either.

Extremely disappointed with my service experience. During a prior visit, I clearly asked to be contacted by my Service Advisor before any work was done, due to a pre scheduled vacation, yet repairs were completed without my knowledge . I let it go at the time, hoping it was an isolated issue of poor internal communication. I recently returned for a routine oil change, being I had previously purchased a 3 year maintenance plan. Within days my vehicle developed new issues that made it unsafe to drive. Despite receiving a “green check” on my vehicle’s condition, I was later given verbal repair recommendations only after I reached out to the Service Manager (unrelated to the current issue) about current conditions-no written documentation was provided. Which I know to be a standard practice. At this point, I’m left questioning the level of service I received and whether it was influenced by the age of my vehicle, where it was purchased, or potential bias based on race. I expected professionalism, transparency, and communication, but unfortunately that was not my experience.

Great customer interaction and very prompt, professional service. They exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend you check them out if you’re in the market for a BMW.

After purchasing a vehicle for myself and another for my mother, I realized about two weeks later that an electric vehicle simply wasn’t the right fit for my lifestyle. While other dealerships told me I was nearly $30,000 upside down and offered no real solutions, Daryl stepped in and handled the situation exactly the way he said he would. Daryl gave me a fair and honest trade value, advised me to wait until December when BMW’s year-end incentives and quota programs would be strongest, and followed through completely. He helped me unwind a tough situation and put me into exactly the vehicle I wanted, without marking up the money factor and without adding any unnecessary dealer add-ons. What really sets Daryl apart is accessibility and follow-through. He gave me his personal cell number and stayed responsive throughout all of November, answering my texts and questions without ever getting annoyed or brushing me off. The experience was rounded out by Steve in Finance, who didn’t push unnecessary products, clearly explained what actually made sense, and discounted the items I did choose. And it’s obvious that Mr. Willie, the GM, runs a tight ship—Athens BMW is organized, efficient, and gets things done. Because of how well this entire process was handled, I trusted Athens BMW enough to purchase another company vehicle from them as well. If you want transparency, integrity, and a leadership team that actually stands behind their word, Athens BMW—and Daryl specifically—are the real deal.

Read this before you buy a BMW from this dealership. If you want to be treated like you’re purchasing a beat-up 1998 Honda Civic instead of a luxury vehicle, this is exactly the place for you. The level of disrespect here is unbelievable. Associates who make promises and then disappear. Managers who abandon you mid-process, only to come back and contradict themselves. Zero accountability, zero professionalism, and absolutely zero follow-through. They don’t care about you at all — just your money. This is NOT a luxury dealership. To them, you are nothing but a number they can squeeze. And the way they talk to you? Prepare to swallow your pride repeatedly if you decide to deal with them. Yes, the car is great — but the experience cost me more self-respect than any purchase ever should. No one spending this kind of money should walk away feeling disrespected, dismissed, and taken advantage of. I run multiple small businesses. I know exactly what a 1-star review means and I don’t give them lightly. But this one is absolutely earned. These people truly deserve it.

So, if you’re like me — a business owner who wants to lease through your company, keep your personal DTI low, and avoid adding new auto tradelines — Athens BMW and BMW Financial Services are the team to see. I’m not local to Athens; about 75 % of this deal was handled by text and email, and it was completely seamless. These guys can easily work with anyone nationwide — but if you’re within driving distance, do yourself a favor and visit the store. I’m a young single mom, bmw in Athens had my x3 there for over a month. Picked it up thinking I wasn’t going to pick up a car now smoking from the back, worst than I came. After asking Lindsey and Johnathon told me if i didn’t leave they would call the cops to make me. I live not even 3 miles down the road from the dealership and broke down, in tears, car smoking, with a young child needed to be picked up (in what I thought was going to be a fixed and reliable car after being “worked on” for over a month… I call bmw while I was broke down and received a response “we can’t help you and hung up”. I’m lost of words. I’m not the type to write negative comments but they deserve nothing positive after this ordeal. Now- I’m down a car, having to use every penny to get a rental for me and my child to get to work, school and the places NEEDED to be.
